West Ward
Simon Edwards

I was born in Paulton, Somerset and have lived in Shepton for almost 20 years. In that time, I’ve helped start up and support the Lantern Parade, the Horticultural Society and the Snowdrop Festival, personally planting thousands of snowdrops across the town.
Until recently, I worked in a senior role at NHS Somerset, predominantly with community services, including hospices, community hospitals and transport provision. In town, I was on the committee for the development of the Neighbourhood Plan.
Since retiring last year, I have thrown myself into my passion for gardening and the outdoors and become a trustee of a local social and therapeutic horticulture charity.
I have volunteered for the Strawberry Line multi-user path and participated in tree planting at Windsor Hill Refuge. I would love to become involved with enhancing the potential of Collett Park for everyone in town, and begin to establish wildlife corridors between Shepton’s green spaces.
I want to be a strong voice for residents- someone who listens, connects and acts. As a Shepton Mallet Town Councillor, I will:
- Promote wellbeing and community spirit to help Shepton thrive
- Draw on NHS experience to help shape local health services.
- Protect and improve public green spaces ensuring they’re welcoming to all
- Support existing local initiatives around town centre regeneration
Let’s make Shepton a place where everyone feels they belong!
